I decided to cook some frozen tilapia fillets that we had on hand, and wanted a tasty, healthy way to prepare them. I had seen cedar grilling at restaurants and though that I could give this a try. These planks are super easy to use. First, you soak the planks you plan to use in water.

These planks can fit a couple of good sized fillets, or in my case, 3 or 4 dinky fillets. While waiting on those two things, season your fish with some olive oil, your favorite fish seasoning, and salt and pepper.

After 30 minutes soaking, your planks are ready. Next, you fire up your grill and get it good an hot. Place the planks on the grill, and let one side get charred black.

Flip the planks, put your fillets on the black side of the plank, and let them cook until done. No flipping needed. Lastly, enjoy your healthy dinner! The cedar planks give your fish a tasty smokey flavor! The talapia fillets that I cooked were nothing special, but this method of cooking with these planks made for some tasty grilled fish.

My friends and I love the added flavor of grilling meats with cedar planks and I was delighted to find them here. My first impressions out of the box was they look a little thin compared to some other brands I have bought in the past, but they have the same great fresh cedar scent.

A few days later we picked up a hefty salmon fillet to use on the cedar. If I remember right the directions on the packaging said to soak for 30 minutes before using on the grill, but I went the safe route and did 60 minutes.

Being that they are a bit thinner then other brands I am sure 30 minutes would have been fine. Slapped them on the grill and charred one side for minutes then flipped it over and laid the fish on and grilled for an additional minutes.

All the while the smoky sweet cedar aroma pouring out of the grill. The fish soaked in a lot of the flavor and was as delicious as anything I've had before.

Initially I was concerned that the thinner wood might lead to a flare up or catching fire more easily in the grill. Although they did char black once the grilling was done, they held up perfectly as they should throughout the grilling process.

The reason I have only given 4 stars instead of 5 is because I reserve 5 stars for the items that completely surprise me with the performance of function and go above and beyond what I was expecting. I gave the Cedar Grilling Planks 4 stars because they did exactly what I expected them too!

I will definitely buy these again when I run out. Great product. We have been using cedar planks for grilling salmon fillets for a number of years now. There are two thing that really make a cedar plank awesome for salmon, imparting a smoky flavor to the fish and retaining the moisture.

I had run out of a large number of planks that I purchased in bulk a couple of years ago. I soak them for 1. While slightly smaller in size than my last ones, they are still large enough that I only need to use two planks to cook a 1.

So this is less wasteful for our family. As far as sanded vs. unsanded, I don't know if I notice a huge difference, other than the fish skin doesn't stick to the unsanded ones. They provide the same moist, smoky fish at what I would consider to be a good price point.

The thickness is perfect for items that cook in under 10 to 15 minutes with the way I grill, which is at a higher temp with planks to get a good steam going and a seal on the outside of the fish to keep the moisture in.

However the all the I have used planks are pretty much spent after that. Normally the fillets are on the grill for about minutes depending on thickness but sockeye is not nearly as thick as atlantic variety. I will continue to buy these for fish and veggies.

Who knows, maybe one day will try thicker ones and try some ribeyes on them. I will continue to buy these as I need more. This is just one man's opinion and in no way can speak for your experience with the product. But I owuld reccomend them to friends and family alike.

Make sure you soak the plank for minutes - then place it on grill for 5 minutes and flip it over before adding your fillet. Works ok, but don't like odor. We love this product for smoking salmon!

I used these for my first attempt cedar plank grilling at home. I decided to cook some frozen tilapia fillets that we had on hand, and wanted a tasty, healthy way to prepare them.

I had seen cedar grilling at restaurants and though that I could give this a try. These planks are super easy to use. First, you soak the planks you plan to use in water. These planks can fit a couple of good sized fillets, or in my case, 3 or 4 dinky fillets.

While waiting on those two things, season your fish with some olive oil, your favorite fish seasoning, and salt and pepper. After 30 minutes soaking, your planks are ready. Next, you fire up your grill and get it good an hot. Place the planks on the grill, and let one side get charred black.

Flip the planks, put your fillets on the black side of the plank, and let them cook until done. No flipping needed. Lastly, enjoy your healthy dinner! The cedar planks give your fish a tasty smokey flavor! The talapia fillets that I cooked were nothing special, but this method of cooking with these planks made for some tasty grilled fish.

Please try again later. Verified Purchase. Large-sized planks. One person found this helpful. These will get the job done. My friends and I love the added flavor of grilling meats with cedar planks and I was delighted to find them here.

My first impressions out of the box was they look a little thin compared to some other brands I have bought in the past, but they have the same great fresh cedar scent. A few days later we picked up a hefty salmon fillet to use on the cedar. If I remember right the directions on the packaging said to soak for 30 minutes before using on the grill, but I went the safe route and did 60 minutes.

Being that they are a bit thinner then other brands I am sure 30 minutes would have been fine. Slapped them on the grill and charred one side for minutes then flipped it over and laid the fish on and grilled for an additional minutes.

All the while the smoky sweet cedar aroma pouring out of the grill. The fish soaked in a lot of the flavor and was as delicious as anything I've had before. Initially I was concerned that the thinner wood might lead to a flare up or catching fire more easily in the grill. Although they did char black once the grilling was done, they held up perfectly as they should throughout the grilling process.

The reason I have only given 4 stars instead of 5 is because I reserve 5 stars for the items that completely surprise me with the performance of function and go above and beyond what I was expecting.

We have been using cedar planks for grilling salmon fillets for a number of years now. There are two thing that really make a cedar plank awesome for salmon, imparting a smoky flavor to the fish and retaining the moisture.

I had run out of a large number of planks that I purchased in bulk a couple of years ago. I soak them for 1. While slightly smaller in size than my last ones, they are still large enough that I only need to use two planks to cook a 1.

So this is less wasteful for our family. As far as sanded vs. unsanded, I don't know if I notice a huge difference, other than the fish skin doesn't stick to the unsanded ones.

They provide the same moist, smoky fish at what I would consider to be a good price point.
